“Feeling myself again after not having a break for 3 years.” Kelly – a carer who stayed at Royal National Hotel.
Carefree, a UK charity that supports unpaid carers to take well-deserved and much-needed breaks across the UK, has been in partnership with us since September 2023. We’ve had the privilege of welcoming 81 unpaid carers since then, to four of our hotels across the Imperial London family.
With 43 (and counting) breaks booked for the future, we are pleased to be a part of helping carers enjoy a break in the UK capital. 77% of carers who have a staycation through Carefree have felt less socially isolated after their break, and 93% noted an improvement in their wellbeing following their time away.
A chance to relax in a comfortable room and explore central London easily, whether that’s strolling through
Covent Garden, visiting the British Museum, or seeing a star-studded West End show in Theatreland – we hope to help the carers who stay with us enjoy
London like a local and be well-looked after by our friendly teams.
“It was amazing to be alone and have no responsibility I really appreciated and needed this break. It made me feel relaxed and able to look after myself, which I never do.” Stephanie – carer who stayed at Bedford Hotel, our hotel on Southampton Row with a secluded secret garden, the perfect place to unwind.

“Our very welcome break in London has made a huge difference to us as full-time parent carers of our autistic son. We have very much been revitalised, refreshed, and have felt rewarded from having the break. We were able to go, for the first time in twenty years, to see a show in London, Christmas markets, Christmas lights, The Shard, have an afternoon tea, dinner out and complete some Christmas shopping! We would not have been otherwise able to afford these luxuries, without the lovely accommodation and breakfast being provided…an immense thankyou from both of us! We are very grateful to both Carefree and to the Tavistock Hotel for the break. Please pass on our huge thanks and gratitude.” David – carer who stayed at
Tavistock Hotel. We’re glad David had such a memorable experience in
London during the festive season.
“Taking my other child, who is a young carer on a break, made them feel special and loved. It was more about time alone with my younger child to do the things we both enjoy and bond without the restrictions we usually have as a family due to the cared-for child.” Roselyne – carer who stayed at
President Hotel in 2023.
Post-pandemic, Carefree has delivered over 7000 breaks to unpaid carers nationwide. It continues to forge relationships with an amazing network of private and public sector partners to help transform our shared social care future. We look forward to our continued partnership with Carefree and are ready to welcome many more carers to London.
